Lambs Ear Shoes for Covet Fridays

September 14th, 2012  |  Published in Covet Fridays, Designers, Men's Fashion, Shoes, Shopping, Women's Fashion |  Add a comment

Lambs Ear is a local boutique in Fremont, known for carefully curated fashion finds for mostly women. While their jewelry and vintage pieces are lust worthy, we absolutely love its spread of shoes.

All of its collection from brands like A Détacher and Zeha Berlin is specifically chosen by owner, Angie Sorenson, based on craftsmanship, design and material. We find it great that it stepped into the men’s space by offering a select number of shoes designed by Zeha Berlin. It’s collection will set you back a few hundred dollars, but it’s impeccably made, is classic, and will make a statement. Here are some of our favorite looks from it’s current collection – which are your favorites?

Margaret O’Leary for Covet Fridays

September 7th, 2012  |  Published in Covet Fridays, Designers, Shopping, Women's Fashion |  Add a comment

We were invited to a grand opening event at the new Margaret O’Leary store at U-Village, but unfortunately couldn’t make it. Did anyone go? If not, we’re absolutely hooked – cozy knitwear spanning from the traditional cardigan to over-sized ponchos.

We’ve picked some of our favorite looks from the fall look book. While not all the pieces come cheap, we’re willing to splurge on items we’ll wear to death. And trust us, we’d LIVE in these pieces.

Liz James Jewelry for Covet Fridays

August 31st, 2012  |  Published in Accessories, Covet Fridays, Designers, Women's Fashion |  Add a comment

We were recently approached by Liz James Designs and were immediately struck by the simple, delicate designs of these incredibly wearable pieces. Austin-based Jamie Pope’s collection has been worn by celebrities like Carrie Underwood and Jennie Garth; and not to mention also blowing up the local Austin magazine scene. Below are some of our favorite pieces, all of which run for a bit more than the prices you’ll find at J.Crew (between $100-$250).

Rivet & Sway: Local Designer Eyewear for Women

August 27th, 2012  |  Published in Accessories, Designers, In Our Closet, Reviews, Women's Fashion  |  2 Comments

Last month I was invited to an intimate launch party for a new Seattle eye wear company: Rivet & Sway. Its trendy glasses were laid out across the tables, champagne was poured, and we were able to try on our favorite specs.

These women’s frames are on trend – you’ll find cat eye, nerd chic, tortoise shell, and more among its collection of punchy female-named eye wear. Below are the three I fell in love with, and I ultimately settled for the middle frames named “punchline”.

The process was super easy to receive my prescription frames, I just gave them the Rx, they measured my pupillary distance at the event, and I received them in less than a week. I believe if you order online you are able to receive a few frames to try out before deciding, simply returning them with your pick and they will fill your prescription and mail your new purchase back.

It took some getting used too because I wasn’t accustomed to the larger lenses, but when I was having problems the Rivet & Sway team really demonstrated what exemplary customer service means. They invited me down to their offices to adjust them and even offered to set me up with their optometrist free of charge. Luckily I got used to them after the adjustments and giving them a full-day’s shot, and I now ear them all. the. time.

So if you’re on the market for eyeglasses, know a lady friend who is, or just want to rock out some frames minus the prescription, check out Rivet & Sway. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Oh and PS – while at the event I discovered the magic that is KuKuRuZa coconut macaroon popcorn. If you haven’t checked out this gourmet popcorn shop in Ballard and Pike Place Market, you haven’t lived.

Local Seattle Jeweler: We Love These Rings

August 13th, 2012  |  Published in Accessories, Designers, In Our Closet, Reviews, Women's Fashion |  Add a comment

We weren’t convinced by Ella La Bella Designs.

When this Seattle father and daughter duo approached us about their handmade rings, we thought they were cool, but the photos on the site didn’t do the rings justice and we were convinced the low price point would mean shoddy quality.

However, it goes to show you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. We agreed to check out their rings, and boy were we impressed. Despite the insanely affordable price (we’re talking under $20 here), these pieces look and feel expensive. They are sturdy and shiny, made of intertwining pieces of silver steel. They are architectural, yet organic, and adds a subtle “aha” moment to any ensemble.

Here are some photos of Rose Petal and Steel Bloom, only two pieces out of the stunningly crafted collection. To check it out, visit www.ellalabelladesigns.com.

An Artist’s Street Style

We spotted Debra Baxter’s necklace first. We were drawn to its Native American vibe and loved the way she was wearing it on a simple dress canvas. After talking a little bit, we found out that she was an artist that makes really unique statement jewelry for her line DB/CB. Debra uses rocks, crystals and minerals throughout the collection. She draws inspiration from her sculpting work to make pieces that are architectural, but have an organic quality to them at the same time. To check it out, visit www.db-cb.com.

Sea Fold Down Tote for Covet Fridays

July 27th, 2012  |  Published in Accessories, Covet Fridays, Designers, Women's Fashion  |  2 Comments

A tote…that folds into a clutch…we need this in our lives.

We came across this tote a few months ago in a Marie Claire magazine. We loved its versatile, utilitarian aesthetic and clean lines.

When we checked out the rest of the designs from Sea, though, we felt a strong connection with the brand. It’s girly and boyish at the same time, making it effortlessly cool. Each piece can be thrown on and still look good, especially when paired together because it is part of an impeccably streamlined collection.

Paisley Clutch for Covet Fridays

June 1st, 2012  |  Published in Accessories, Covet Fridays, Designers, Trends, Women's Fashion |  Add a comment

We’ve always been partial to paisley, so when we came across this paisley clutch by Etro we absolutely died. It’s just so versatile in black and white that we can’t help but salivate over the possibilities.

One trend we’ve been playing around with is color blocking. In fact, Adria did a shoot with Bliss in downtown Fremont demonstrating her take on the trend, which should be live on its blog soon.

This bag just lends itself to color blocking, anchoring the look with much needed pattern, but not clashing with its blank color palette. Here is how we would style these two trends into one seamless look.
